Key takeaways
- A camera on a cable travels through the pipe
- The video shows cracks, roots, offsets and bellies
- A locator marks the depth and position at the surface
- Heavy buildup may need cleaning first
Getting access
We use a cleanout when one is available. If not, the camera can enter through a toilet flange or roof vent, or we may recommend adding a cleanout.
Running the camera
A push camera or a small tracked crawler moves along the pipe while recording. The operator notes distances to defects.
What we look for
Cracks, offset or separated joints, roots, corrosion, buildup, bellies (low spots) and the pipe material and size.
Locating the problem
A transmitter in the camera head lets us find the exact spot on the surface and its depth, so repairs can be planned.
After the inspection
We review the video with you, explain what matters and what does not, and give you the recording. That is the basis for any repair recommendation.
Quick answers
Will the camera get stuck?
Rarely. If it cannot pass a point, that itself is useful information.
Do I get the video?
Yes, we provide the recording.
